Dallas’s already strong brunch scene will see another major player when Yardbird Southern Table & Bar opens its doors here this spring. The wait’s been on for the Southern-themed restaurant from Miami with outposts across the country to move into the ground floor of PwC Tower at 2121 North Pearl Street near Klyde Warren Park. Now there’s an opening date: Monday, March 23 will be when Yardbird opens to the public.
Rockwell Group is handling the design of the Dallas location, with down-home details like a wraparound patio with swings, or chicken feet as decor in the upstairs private dining room. The dining room (also know as the “drawing room”) will be light and bright, with an open kitchen and large picture windows.
Fried chicken makes the menu, of course, made with a 27-hour brining process. Other Southern-themed menu highlights include buttermilk biscuits; deviled eggs with dill, chives, and smoked trout roe; fried green tomatoes with pork belly and pimento cheese; and “chicken ‘n’ watermelon ‘n’ waffles” complete with honey hot sauce, bourbon maple syrup, chilled spiced watermelon, and a waffle made with Vermont sharp cheddar cheese.
