Department of Agriculture - Traveling with Plants / Fruits / Vegetables

Please contact the Department of Agriculture for the state that you are visiting. The official website of the Hawaii Department of Agriculture is Hawaii.gov/hdoa. There are specifications for traveling from Hawaii to U.S. Mainland and U.S. Mainland to Hawaii. You can also check your items at the USDA's simplified website by clicking here.


Pre-packaged box of Fruit (Pineapple or Papaya)

For the most part, we will accept one pre-packaged box of pineapples or treated papayas, per paid passenger, free of charge (subject to space availability) on flights departing from Hawaii to the North America. The box must not exceed 10 lbs in weight and must be pre-agriculture inspected.


Leaving Hawaii with a Lei

Leis are a beautiful memorabilia of the Hawaiian Islands, but sometimes it may contain items that are prohibited to enter the continental United States. Please read the USDA's Travel guide on how to tell if your lei can go with you.
