Coneheads opened over the weekend in East Nashville — serving customers saucy fried chicken in crisp waffle cones.

Diners can also get fried chicken served in basket form — while non-meat eaters can get cones filled with crispy cauliflower. Crowning sauces referred to as “drips” range from chipotle ranch to rosemary agave or white bbq

Side options are fries, pineapple coleslaw, macaroni and cheese, grits, and fried cauliflower. Cones can also be topped off with a “cap” of pineapple coleslaw, macaroni, or grits.

Outside, the entryway is plastered with a faux grass walkway and offers patio seating. Inside, walls are covered by art from Nashville-based artist Eric ‘Mobe’ Bass — representing the youthfulness and history of owner, Marcus Buggs’experience in the football and restaurant world.

”Coneheads” is a concept created by myself and my wife Jen. It was born out of my having grown up in a restaurant setting as a child and our love for food and entertaining, says Buggs.”

Located at 1315 Dickerson Pike, Coneheads hours will be Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
