100 Images From the Controversial TSA Body Scans

Federal agencies have tried to quiet public outcry over TSA body scans by promising that the devices won’t store images after the security check. After word got out that the U.S. marshals operating the machine in Orlando turned on the “offload image” function, saving 35,000 images, Gizmodo obtained 100 of them through an FOIA request. Fortunately for those 100 individuals, whose flesh and bones are only visible as blurry white matter, the machine in question wasn’t one of the high-res “naked scanners” that display passengers and their junk in vivid detail. Maybe the TSA should stop buying scanners with a “save” button.
