Roc South Cuisine

Visited 4/24/2021. Nice urban vibe. My server was very pleasant and timely. Diverse menu offerings. My food choice/order was room temperature when it arrived, but it was tasty. Cleanliness was just OK; walls in dining area and restroom were dusty and food stained. Very small dining area with no separation/partitions. Music playing was great ambience.

Been trying to get a reservation at this spot for almost 3 months with a group of six people. We got in this weekend and we had a small incident where we were not informed that the kitchen was being closed at 930 by our server forgot inform us that the kitchen was being closed, so we missed our entire meal due to that but lucky I went ahead and ordered seafood Gumbo, Seafood egg rolls and honey lemon pepper wings as our appetizer, let me now tell you about seafood Gumbo, it took me to New Orleans a few years back. I would sure recommend that for anyone going there to eat a good gumbo.

Since the only thing they had left was the side, we ordered candied yams, collard, mac n cheese, creamy red potatoes, and cabbage. My favorite here was the cabbage and the candied yams. With little miss communication between our waiters and us I still want to come back and try the food again.

Before I forget some of my friends ordered the southern fried chicken and they liked it. I don’t usually order chicken when I go out, but I can voucher for them that it was good. I really would have liked to try the curry vegetable bowl with salmon.

The four stars is due to we didn’t get the chance to order what we wanted due to the kitchen got closed before we could place any orders and again miss communication with our server.

We got there right we when it opened and it was raining. The valet walked me to the door with an umbrella. We were seated quickly. I ordered the mule and my drink was great. For the meal, I ordered the snapper which came with rice and sauce. The sauce is so good and you can get it on the side. I ordered some greens which were pretty. I also ordered Mac n cheese which was really creamy and cheese. My husband ordered the lamb chops with cabbage and collards. He said the lamb chops were awesome. Overall we had a great experience and look forward to coming back.

My suggestion are: go early or make a reservation. Place your order quickly and order a drink. Then it won't be such a long wait time.

This was some of the best food I’ve had in a while. I ordered the chicken with yams and Mac and cheese of the brunch menu. It was so freaking good, like legit everything was good. I also did a cup of gumbo and speaking for someone whose entire blood line if from Louisiana I can tell y’all that is some good damn gumbo. I left stuff and happy. Also the service was great as well which I love to see for a hock owned business. Impeccable and I will def be back with all my family and friends.

This place is done right! Very nice atmosphere and layout. Went in for a nice lunch, it is a little on the expensive side but portions are nice. The mac and cheese is very good. The chicken looked fantastic as did the yams and greens I spied from my table. The gumbo was great and flavorful. Overall it was a pleasant experience. The service was fast and we didn't wait long for a table. I may "splurge" and go back for that chicken! Several tables had it, it looked amazing!
