Butters Pancakes & Cafe in Scottsdale is moving, but not far

When Butters Pancakes & Cafe opened in 2011, it took over the building from Le Peep restaurant. That meant the owners — brothers Chris, Ted and George Syregelas — had to adapt to the existing equipment and logistical layout in the kitchen on the northwest corner of East Via de Venture and Hayden Road in Scottsdale.

Soon, in just a few short months, the brothers will relocate Butters to the kitchen of their dreams.

By early June, Butters will move a half-mile north into a space with 500 more square-feet, designed from the ground up to modernize the aesthetics and improve operations.

“We were looking to remodel when this opportunity presented itself,” Ted Syregelas said. “The new design will feature a vaulted ceiling, more open space and more natural light. It will be more efficient from operational standpoint, too.”

Located in an adjacent shopping center at 8300 N. Hayden Road, the new Butters will also have an outdoor patio and more visibility from Hayden Road.

Known for pancakes, French toast, Benedicts and other egg dishes including omelets and scrambles served all day, Butters also serves burgers, wraps, sandwiches and salads for lunch.

Popular menu items include:

  • Wild berry bliss pancakes ($9.50).
  • Oreo cookie s’mores pancakes ($9.50).
  • Irish Benedict with corned beef hash ($10.75).
  • Whole hog skillet with bacon, ham, sausage, hash browns and two eggs ($11).

The family also owns Butterfield’s Pancake House on East Shea Boulevard. Butters Pancakes & Cafe is an offshoot of Butterfield’s. Ted explains the difference between the two spots this way: “Butters is more of a cafe than a pure pancake house, and Butters has a barista program, whereas Butterfield’s does not.”

The Syregelas brothers opened a second Butters location in Scottsdale in late 2016.
