Opening a new business is a stressful time …but opening a new business during a pandemic is …a real leap of faith!

Retired-Former Olympic Corrections Center Superintendent John Aldana and his wife Glenda opened a new business in Forks this week, a venture called West End Taproom Tip and Sip.

The Aldana’s have been working around the clock converting a 1,200 square foot building at 70 West A. St. into a welcoming space.

The new business will be specializing in craft beers, craft ciders, wine tastes, retail beer, cider, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages.

For now, COVID-19 rules apply with regard to how patrons can enjoy the space, but once things ease up, customers will be able to sit at a couple of bar areas, a cozy space with comfy chairs by a little fireplace and several regular tables for groups.

There will also be a small area for seating outside.

John said, “We will have growlers and other items to go, we went with draft brands that are unique to Forks.”

Customers will notice a beautiful bar-top when they enter the building, it is dedicated to the late Sam Gaydeski. John shared that the wood, Mountain Ash, came from a property Sam had owned and Randy McAvoy had finished the wood. There is a plaque on the end of the bar’s edge detailing the information.

The West End Taproom will be open Thursday – Monday noon to 10 p.m. and closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The space is for those 21 years and older and they will also offer free Wifi.
