Good southern food - Edit
Had the waffles and chick'n. Super tasty and made a good brunch. Also ordered the Caramel Chai Tea. A little sweet for my taste but still great!

The best I’ve had Nashville hot Chick’n - Edit
Excellent amount of heat and sweet on the chick’n strips, perfectly complimented by slaw and pickles. The cornbread is impossibly fluffy. Mac is solid. The chocolate chip cookie was a nostalgic experience. So glad I came here.

Vegan Comfort Food - Edit
The Southern V has great vegan comfort food options. The Mac N Cheeze is a MUST try, and they have delicious vegan tenders. Located on Buchanan Street, The Southern V is family owned and operated. They have breakfast, lunch and dinner options, and a large variety to choose from. They even have desserts!

Great veggie sampler - Edit
So many great options! I had the sampler with Mac and cheese, turnip greens and baked beans with corn bread….and all were delicious! Smoothie is definitely worth getting too! And, take a dessert to go—the Carmel Bundt cake is delightful!

Amazing everything - Edit
Everything I tried was amazing. Got their rodeo burger and vegetable plate with Mac n cheese, turnip greens, coleslaw. The Mac n cheese tasted a bit nutty!

Everything is delicious! - Edit
EDIT! I needed to come back and edit this review. Still my favorite vegan place in Nashville! If you can get that bacon egg and cheese biscuit you will not be disappointed. You can eat inside now and they have a nice space. We eat here almost weekly.
Read moreThe Southern V makes some of the most delicious vegan food I have ever had! It is all comfort food, and perfect. We usually get breakfast there. Love the steak and waffles, and I haven't had any baked goods from them that weren't excellent. This weekend we went by for dinner and were blown away by their holiday themed fall menu!
I really don't know how they make their fried "chick'n" but it is so delicious. We also had dressing, sweet potatoes, mac and cheese and green, all equally good.
Keep in mind, this is all take out, but there are some tables to eat at if you don't want to take it home. They are also new and working on serving logistics. It gets better every time we go. This is a small family business and they could not be nicer.
My only wish is that they were open during the week! I'm hoping with their continued success they will be able to expand and have more hours. My favorite vegan place in Nashville, hands down!

chef’s kiss ! - Edit
i found this place through happy cow when visiting nashville, and it did not disappoint! ordering is done on an iPad, and then your name is called when it’s done. i got the nashville hot chicken with mac and cheese and a cookie. the chicken was amazing, but definitely hotter than i expected! the ranch that came with it was also super good. the mac and cheese didn’t really taste like what i was expecting, but my sister still liked it. my favorite part was probably the cookie it was SO good:) i definitely recommend if visiting nashville !

First and Last!!! - Edit
First time and last time. Tossed the entire meal in their trash. The place is clean, I'll give them 1 star for that. My partner ordered spicy chicken with Mac and cheese, her sandwich dry. I ordered the side trio. Mac and cheese, same as hers, mushy, cold, and bland. Green beans, mushy, canned, not fresh, tasteless. Baked beans were a mouth full of BBQ sauce. We both ordered lemonade, and both felt we were drinking syrup. Not good at all. The checkout was awkward. Nobody greets you, or explained we are to seat ourselves and self order and checkout. This is probably great for nashville, but coming from a city that are majority plant based, this is not even 1 star. The decor is progressive and hip, yet you are still using paper towels and plastic. Not eco friendly. Do better.

So fluffy and tasty!! - Edit
The waffles and biscuits were on point!! You have to get the Nashville chickun. Was totally surprised that for a breakfast and brunch spot there didn’t seem to be coffees/lattes and all that. We had to go somewhere separate after… but the food on its own had good flavor and texture

Sometimes my friend and I just take a 5 hour roadtrip in a day to get The Southern V. I get the chicken biscuit with smoked gouda and a side of honey mustard and Mac and cheese.

Hit the spot! - Edit
My cat and I were road tripping back from camping in Florida and I felt like some chicken and waffles. This place didn't disappoint! I got the spicy chicken option and oh man, it was so nice to discover a place that actually makes food spicy for a change. I also got the dragonfruit smoothie and it hit the spot too.

This is what I’ve been waiting for - Edit
Finally! Been searching for the best hot chicken while in Nashville and I’ve finally found it at The Southern V! I had the hot chicken sandwich, with greens, baked beans, macaroni, and also ordered the chicken fried chicken for later.
Read moreI thought the hot chicken sandwich was fantastic. Easily the best I’ve had on this trip. The baked beans were tasty and the greens were ok. I wasn’t, however, a fan of the macaroni. The chicken fried chicken tasted good and I enjoyed the gravy.
I wish they served breakfast at all times because I really was looking forward to a chicken biscuit sandwich and/or chicken and waffles 🙃

Best vegan food in Nashville - Edit
I live in the neighborhood and I’ve eaten everything on their menu. This is it. This is the vegan place you’re looking for. The flavor is top notch and the fried chicken is on point. Don’t sleep on the burgers though, I am absolutely addicted to their mushroom burger. The nachos are also absolutely delicious.

Drop dead tasty food - Edit
The food here was absolutely one of the best we’ve tasted for vegan soul food. We are from California visiting Nashville. This place is on par if not better that vegan soup food we’ve had in Los Angeles. We got the chicken sandwich, spicy chicken tenders, baked beans, milkshake, and cornbread. Everything made our mouths water.

WOW - Edit
The Southern V blew my mind. We ordered the patty melt and the nashville hot chicken sandwich with mac n cheese and cole slaw for sides. The mac was full of flavor which is hard to come by for vegans. The slaw was great as well, not too watery, almost sweet, and still crunchy. The patty melt was awesome but the hot chicken sandwich….. may be the best thing Ive had in my whole life. I will be stopping here any time I visit Nashville from here on. Side note: there is no inside dining, everything has to be ordered online and taken to your car. Still just as good.

Great! - Edit
Passing through; was hoping for the chicken and waffles, but it was not on offer. However, I was really pleased and would definitely go back if anywhere near the place.
Read moreGot the chicken sandwich, which was really fresh and well put-together – the patty seems to be made in-house. The only change I would suggest is that the sauce could add a bit more flavor.
The mac-and-cheeze that accompanied was also pretty subtle – but it had a really texture and was something I would churn through if given the chance.
Friendly business that I would love to support. It's still takeout only as of this review, though you can eat on the patio.
Pros: Seems all homemade, Freshness and ingredients, Friendly local business
Cons: A bit more flavor in the sauce would be nice. :)

I had the Chick'n Fried Chick'n w/ turnip greens & cornbread with a cookie for dessert. Everything was delicious & exactly what I was looking for while visiting Nashville. They only had take-away option but did have a small set up out front so we were able to sit.
