After a mere two months on the market, Sandra Bullock's West Hollywood home found a new owner. The lavish property sold for $2.925 million, according to Trulia. Despite lowering her listing price to $2.995 million, Bullock still made a considerable profit on the 1940s-era bungalow, which she first purchased in 2001 for $1.485 million.

Sandra Bullock's Abode

The sale of the home marked the end of Bullock's three-year stint as landlord of the 3,153-square-foot stunner: The Oscar winner rented out the home—located above the iconic Chateau Marmont on the Sunset Strip—between the years of 2015 and 2018. The price to live like Miss Congeniality? Upwards of $18,500 per month. If that number gives you sticker shock, you better take a seat: In 2011, Bullock purchased her current primary residence, an 8,000-square-foot mansion in Beverly Hills, for a whopping $16.19 million. Fun fact: Puerto Rican pop star Ricky Martin is her neighbor!

Cali-Cool Style With Views for Miles

Circling back to the star's former pad in West Hollywood: Offering four bedrooms and three bathrooms across a single story, the home is sized right for families—or simply anyone with a penchant for California bungalow-style architecture. This home has all of the elements of the architectural style (and then some): a low, sloping roof; an open floor plan; and a sprawling footprint that places an emphasis on horizontal lines—and how they play off the home's surroundings.

What Is a Bungalow?

A bungalow is a single-storied, usually small house characterized by a sloping roof and large, covered porches. The style became popular in America during the 1920s.

Here, the surroundings comprise a 0.20-acre lot in the ritzy, celeb-favorite Hollywood Hills, and the bungalow fully reaps the benefits of its hillside locale. Unobstructed views of the glittering Los Angeles cityscape can be enjoyed from multiple vantage points within the home, including the large eat-in cook’s kitchen (complete with a fireplace) and the cavernous living room (featuring vaulted ceilings).

But the best sightlines are reserved for the private, stone-decked pool, veranda, and adjacent lanai, all of which offer ample opportunity to enjoy alfresco entertaining—and the perennial Los Angeles sunshine. In true California bungalow style, the verdant outdoor areas make it seem like the gardens and the home have coexisted from the get-go, and the lush (albeit meticulously landscaped) plantings complement the bungalow's casual-meets-contemporary vibe.

Stepping back inside, you'll find a spacious primary suite featuring oh-so-high ceilings and French doors to a dedicated outdoor space. The bathroom is complete with a soaking tub and a separate steam shower. Another bedroom boasts a cozy sleeping loft that's accessed by a modern spiral staircase. The home office, meanwhile, is outfitted with plenty of built-ins and cabinets for a workspace that's as functional as it is inviting. Rounding out the offerings here? Skylights galore, plus private, off-street parking in the form of a two-car garage.

Primary Suite

The term “Primary Suite” is now widely used to describe the largest bedroom in the home with an en suite bath, as it better reflects the space’s purpose. Many realtors, architects, interior designers, and the Real Estate Standards Association have recognized the potentially discriminatory connotations in the term “Master.” Read more about our Diversity and Inclusion Pledge.

Sandra Bullock's Real Estate

Bullock off-loaded this property, but don't count Bullock out of the real estate game just yet: The A-lister has amassed quite the portfolio since the beginning of her career. Spanning private residences to commercial investments, Bullock's real estate dealings have included properties in Manhattan, New Orleans, and Georgia’s Tybee Island, among other cities. These are all in addition to the above-mentioned Beverly Hills mansion where she currently resides with her son, Louis.
