Explorer Falls — Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020

North Cascades
Explorer Falls

No issues reaching the small parking lot where Monroe Camp Rd is gated.

Continued on foot along the road. Multiple signs and lots of flagging made the turn-off for Explorer Falls hard to miss. The first stream crossing required some creative rock-hopping. The short trail that leaves the decommissioned road to reach the bottom of the falls wasn't signed, but was easy to spot. To continue to the top of the falls, a second stream crossing was necessary; fortunately this one had a convenient log across. The trail to the top of the falls is steep, and had some erosion. Checked out the short but precarious side trail to the crest of the falls, but didn't continue any further along the main trail (which would have required a third stream crossing).

Encountered only four parties on the trail, and none beyond the bottom of the falls.
